We recognize that resources are needed to support clinicians and educators with the provision and consistent implementation of MAID throughout Canada. Below are two resource kits summarizing the requirements outlined in the federal legislation and guidelines by various provincial regulatory colleges and are presented in a logical sequential order to support clinicians with patient requests for MAID as well as educators teaching in residency programs about the provision of MAID.
These resources are intended to supplement, not circumvent existing regulatory body requirements or institutional processes that have already been implemented.
The first MAID resource was developed by the Post MD Education department at University of Toronto with leadership from Dr. Dori Seccareccia, Dr. Irene Ying and Dr. Elie Grzeda as faculty authors. It is intended to provide faculty with educational resources as they lead resident teaching sessions about MAID and the clinician’s role in its implementation.

This second resource was developed by the Centre for Effective Practice with clinical leadership from Dr. Sandy Buchman, in partnership with the Ontario College of Family Physicians and Nurse Practitioners’ Association of Ontario as part of the Knowledge Translation in Primary Care initiative funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
